Sometimes i understand that the recipes that i write over here in the blog are not exactly…”Greek” but they are part of this cooking trip that i have in the past few years. Additionally they are cooked by a Greek so there is a little bit of truth in the term “Greek recipes”.

Anyway, the following is something that i tried after getting some scallops from the famous Billinsgate fish market that exists in London.

It is great as a starter or just a part of a full meal

Scallops with Bacon ingredients

  • Around 350-400gr of fresh scallops
  • 10-15 slices of unsmoked slices of bacon
  • 4 teaspoons of Dijon Mustard
  • One small bunch of parsley finely chopped
  • Salt, Pepper
  • lemon juice
  • Olive oil
  • toothpicks

So, first of all we need to prepare our sauce. In a deep bowl, we put 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil, the mustard, lemon, 1/2 of our parsley and throw inside our scallops. Fill the rest with water just to cover the scallops and add salt, pepper to our taste.

Leave them there for 1 hour. In the meantime we take the slices of bacon and cut them in half or in general in the right size to cover our scallops. We dont want them to be huge and cover them completely.

Put one scallop on top of the bacon, and roll them over and pin them with a toothpick so they dont fall when we stir fry them.

In a sauce pan, add a little bit of olive oil and then throw the scallops and fry them around 4 minutes each side until the bacon becomes brownish. Serve them with a bit of lemon and parsley.
